Centrepoint

We’re chuffed to donate £1500 to our local charity, Centrepoint – following the success of our Christmas Gold Coins initiative.

If you aren’t familiar with their amazing work, here’s a snapshot….

Centrepoint are a charity who, each year, help over 8000 young people off the streets, giving them opportunities otherwise beyond their reach. This comes in many forms – from shelter for the night, to helping with basic education, to starting them on the job ladder. Centrepoint provide fantastic volunteer schemes, one of which is mentoring – with nearly 100 mentors pairing with a young person to help them over a year.

We’d really encourage you to get involved, either by donating or volunteering or just spreading the word. centrepoint.org.uk

Thanks to your support, we can help others.

Ways in which our donation of £1,500 might be used:

Provide one-to-one mentoring support for three young people for six months

  • Centrepoint young people often have few, if any, positive role models. Mentors give essential one-to-one, long-term support making young people much more likely to get back into education, get a job and find a home of their own.

Allow 10 young people to access our Workwise programme

  • Centrepoint’s WorkWise programme gives young people employability skills, the chance to gain work experience and supports them into a job so that they can support themselves and move on successfully leaving homelessness behind.

Provide over 40 hours of one-to-one counselling with a psychotherapist

  • Due to their traumatic life experiences, Centrepoint young people are much more likely to have a mental health problem than their peers – 33% have a mental health problem and 1 in 5 have attempted to take their own life. Our specialist therapists help young people to tackle these issues and turn their lives around.
